Sharon Regional Sports Medicine is led by board-certified orthopedic surgeon, JAMES BONIFACE, M.D., who has previously served as team physician for two of Youngstown's hockey teams, the Steelhounds and the Phantoms. Regardless of the cause or nature of your injury, Dr. Boniface and the dedicated team of trainers and therapists are committed to helping you return to form as quickly and safely as possible.
We work with both youth and adults to:
- Reduce pain from general, sports or work-related conditions or injuries
- Discuss surgical options and/or speed recovery from orthopedic surgery

Kickstart Your Comeback with Sports Rehabilitation
Caring for an injured athlete is more than just applying a brace. As part of Sharon Regional's comprehensive Rehabilitation Therapy Services, we offer specialized therapies designed with athletes in mind.
A licensed therapist will provide an extensive evaluation and create a personal treatment program based on your unique needs and goals. Programs typically combine therapeutic exercise with education and self-management techniques to speed healing and prevent re-injury. Manual therapy and methods such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation may also be used to support recovery.
Keeping our Youngest Athletes on the Field
Sharon Regional proudly provides full-time athletic training services to our Sharon, Kennedy Catholic, Hickory, Farrell, Brookfield and Mercer high schools. Our Certified Athletic Trainers (ATCs) are trained to handle life-threatening injuries such as head and neck trauma, while helping keeping these athletes well-conditioned and free from injury.
