Sharon Regional Medical Center's Laboratory Achieves Re-accreditation from the College of American Pathologists
The Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) has awarded re-accreditation to Sharon Regional Medical Center’s Laboratory, based on results of a recent on-site inspection as part of the CAP’s Accreditation Program. The CAP serves patients, pathologists, and the public by fostering and advocating excellence in the practice of pathology and laboratory medicine. The Laboratory at Sharon Regional is one of more than 8,000 CAP-accredited facilities worldwide.
“I’d like to recognize the Sharon Regional Laboratory team for their exceptional efforts in achieving re-accredidation,” said Deepan Mathur, MD, Medical Director of Laboratory Services at Sharon Regional Medical Center. “Sharon Regional’s Laboratory Services is committed to providing physicians and patients with high-quality laboratory testing at convenient locations throughout the Shenango Valley and this re-accredidation is a testament to the level of care and testing we provide” said Mathur.
During the CAP accreditation process inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management ensuring the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients.
